Can Website Earn Money From Viewer?

Forget about ads, product and any internet business related?
I’m not selling any product or doing ads or anything so please don’t offer tips about consumer, ads or affiliate. Sorry to be rude and thank you.
My point is lets say I create a social website say like (youtube or myspace…they’re not selling any product in my knowledge). Can a website generate money from viewer? How does the whole process work besides purchase the domain name and have a website(like what type registration do you have to go through..idk…). And of course SEO play an important part in this unless your site is really popular like youtube or myspace.

    Anyone viewing a site of yours will be downloading information. They will cost you money, after a point.
    The only way to make money is to sell things or to make money from advertising.

    go to youtube. Right now. near the top right. is an advertisement video what do ya know! the person/product/film PAID youtube to be on their homepage! plus youtube holds events that raise money and stuff.
    next up.
    MYSPACE!
    just go to myspace.com
    front page ADVERTISEMENTS!
    people paid to have their products/film/music displayed on myspaces front page!
    you cant make money from people just viewing your website, sorry.

    it can only make money if you have advertisement on it or some kind of sponsorship

    You can also generate revenue from your site by people paying for membership, which is something that Facebook tossed around a while a go, but the backlash put that to rest. Some sites offer free for people to view, but if you’d like to participate you have to pay a monthly membership fee, this is how companies such as http://www.fark.com and http://www.schoolfriends.com operate.
    There’s also the reverse you tube model which i’ve been mulling over, where you have a video site, and the people who post the videos pay YOU each time the video is watched. Its a bit like the pay per click advertising model, which would work well on a site where people come to promote products or services.
    As for the process, that’s like asking how long is a piece of string. What your site is about, and what you are trying to achieve is going to determine how you go about putting together what you are after.
