My top tips for link building:
1. Do research on the links that you are sending out and receiving in. Find out information such as domain age, back links, page rank, traffic etc. Use the common source http://www.whois.sc for some info.
2. When building links always build towards relevant sites, this way your link will hold more weight as it will be relevant to the page its listed on.
3. When creating links don’t have the web address as the anchor text, create your relevant keywords for that link. For example, create a link with “Footaball Matches Live” rather than “http://www.myfootymatches.com” as the title.
4. Don’t always base your links on PR, relevance can hold just as much importance for the SERP’s.
5. Don’t allow porn sites to advertise on your website, it ruins the credibility of your site.
6. If you are going to have a links button from the main page make sure you call it something relevant to something you sell or do, for example “Football Links” or “Football Match Links” this will help.
7. Keep an eye on your links on your page, if they are broken, be sure to remove them soon or it will go against you. Also check to see if the sites you link exchange with keep your link on their sites, some people are untrustworthy.
