Question by bobo: Please help me gain control of my web site and promote it?
Hi I am a webmaster student with basic knowledge of Dreamweaver flash Photoshop and visual web developer, I have an opportunity to maintain and promote my first web site, this particular web site is a lawyer’s website and the people who created it fell out with the client and “disappeared “ the client wants me to take over the site , update textual , video, and other streaming media ,promote the site , and list it on main search engines (search engine optimization, meta tags, submitting url ) . At the moment I am not sure where to start and how to gain control of the existing info on the web site and building a strategy
Please help this is my first opportunity to gain some practical knowledge of the industry.

I would highly recommend starting with the Beginner’s Guide to SEO, written by SEOmoz. By the time you’re done reading, you will have a very good grasp on the fundamentals of internet marketing and search engine optimization. SEOmoz was a huge influence on me when I first got into internet marketing.
When you’re done with that, check out Sphinn. This is where internet marketers share articles and the community votes on them (just like Digg). If you just read the stories that “went hot” on the home page, it will help you stay up-to-date on the latest tips and strategies.
Try not to get sucked in by so-called experts pimping their ebooks and site submission tools. There is so much free information available out there, and so many of these people have zero credibility.
