get google toolbar… it has the feature in there
or go to history option and see all the website searched and stuff
otherwise go to rescuetime.com and install their software… for free…. they will even tell u what was he upto when he was not using computer

you can install a google toolbar that will serve the purpose. But the list that you are talking about is not the history of the words searched on your computer, it is a list of terms that are commonly searched on google worldwide. They are called suggestions
However there are some excellent freeware parental control software you can try

on the web you can see http//www.google.com/psearch
if you have account from google.
and in the browser if you use:
firefox:just hold Alt+Ctrl+Delete from keyboard then a small window will appear on that window check all the boxes and then OK it will remove all of your search history.
but for internet explorer flow this:
    from the menu tools>>internet options>>general tab>>browsing history section>>delete>>delete all
and content tab auto complete section>>settings>>check all boxes and then OK
    that is it.

look for a program called eyespy , it will let you see everything but only if you are that kind of mom.
Or you can not spy but prevent any trouble with Spy Sweeper’s Parental Control … AOL has that too and AOl is free i believe but slows pc down.
But to answer you Q its Auto Complete needs to be reactivated but this can easily be cleared out when the user goes to delete history.
Go to Tools>> Options> Auto Complete
