My google search engine bar and my address bar save everything I type into them (search terms and web addresses) so that if I type something beginning with the same letter again, the old ones pop up.
This can be convenient, but some of them contain typos, or are old, or are personal, etc….
So how can I delete them, and stop the computer doing this?

Every time I type something in to a search engine or a login name onto facebook it saves it and I want to delete it. On a windows computer you can simply hit delete and it is vanished forever, but the delete button on my mac serves as the backspace, therefore just erasing the letter typed in to get my ‘old’ search/login name there in the first place.
